pop cupcakes

or soda cupcakes. i guess a few of you might call them coke cupcakes. which is beyond wrong, since coke already is a specific type but whatever...
back to the food!

got this recipe from a friend. had to try it since i <3 cupcakes!

all you need is a can of pop and a package of cake mix. no egg.  no oil. just cake mix and pop.
all i had was yellow cake, so i used sprite...

turned out so yummy!
i'm not a big fan of yellow cake. these were lighter. nick even approved and he isn't a fan of sweets!

looking forward to trying white cake with creme soda and chocolate cake with cherry vanilla dr. pepper. yum!

if you try a combo and it's a success, let me know! ;o)

I so want to try these after seeing margaret's post, happy to hear you used regular soda and they tasted yummy.

I know you wanted successes, but I have to warn you about the combo I tried tonight--Rainbow Sprinkle (white cake with multi-coloured sprinkles--not my favourite, but the kids like it) and Coke Zero. I'm wondering if I should have used a real sugar pop because they have a weird medicinal aftertaste. Nothing a little chocolate icing couldn't fix though! They also fall apart really easily. Were yours like that too?

Liz, how long did you cook it for? It only needs 10 - 15 minutes. Mine didn't fall apart, but the tops are super sticky if you don't frost them. I'm not so sure white cake would be good with a cola flavor. Did it make it a wierd color too?

Shannon, good call on the cream soda. Let me know how that one goes!

I think it was less than 15 min (13maybe?) I thought it would be a weird colour with the coke too, but it wasn't really. They tasted okay (I think I was the only one who noticed the aftertaste), but the tops were sticky too. I'll try something else next time...

Shannon, that sounds interesting. I'll have to try that. I've got pepsi and I think that w/chocolate cake will go well. BTW, I think in our area we call it pop.
