wip 5.19.12

friday:
picked ben up from daycare after cleaning all day. had to hurry up and get ready to head right back out. were meeting my parents at a wake.

passed some time waiting for nick to get home from work by playing with ben's new felt food. got the pizza kit and sandwich kit. melissa and doug brand. he's quite a fan! {and no he isn't really eating his fake food. it's a real potato chip!}

oh and all pics from today are iphone shots.

after the wake, we went out to dinner with my parents. good company. good mexican food. good beer!

then we stopped at old navy for ben stuff and a quick stop at the grocery store. it was way late and ben was way good. told him if he stayed in the cart for the entire shopping trip he could have some gum. it worked! ;)

ignore the crazy lighting. tried to get him showing me the gum in his hand and in his mouth!

saturday:

a morning with snakes and bugs and my cute little boy.

i have no idea what chewbacca is doing. that cat is crazy.

fun with tents and tunnels.

had a change of plans... ended up stopping by nick's work. ben passed out in the car and i enjoyed some words with friends.

then we hit up the outlet mall. has been forever! and i haven't shopped in forever! okay. not really but whatever. it felt like it.

saw this when we drove in. had to take a picture and text some girlfriends. might have to make a girl's trip when it opens!

of course, ben needed a bouncy ball.

stopped at three stores. a record for us. carter's, under armor, and gap. and rally's. it's a must when we are there!

the loot. oh, i lied. stopped at nine west. was looking for some ballet flats. came home with some wedges. i've been looking for some for almost a year. yay!

and chilling on the couch at the end of the day.

sunday:
i had to be up super, super, super early.
planned to go to a photography class with a girlfriend a few months ago. we bought our living social coupon for it almost a year ago. didn't realize that the nato summit was going on when we planned it.

on my way to meet monica. thank goodness for daylight. it made being up that early so much easier. and no traffic!

made it to the train station with plenty of time to spare. so weird seeing police everywhere.

we were searched before we could head up to the platform, and then had to get off of the train at one stop to be searched again, as well as, frisked and then were able to get on a different train. which was full of security.

made it to chicago with no troubles. picture of my lovely breakfast and my improvised camera bag. there were a million restrictions as to what we could take on the train and only one of my bags/purses worked!

gonna give the class photos their own post. so stay tuned. because there's a heck of a difference between some of the shots!

the city was relatively quiet. there were hardly any cars on the roads and there were police/secret service every where. kind of neat to say i experienced it. might be looking at it differently if we were to have witnessed some of the disruptive protests in the flesh. thankfully, we were out of the city by 1045. monica's theory was that the protesters would just be getting started!

the bathrooms had pretty, fresh flowers.

got this text from nick just before boarding the train. the boys went to play some frisbee golf.

and he actually remembered that i left the point and shoot at home so he could take it with. and he actually remembered to take pictures! yay. and double yay!

jer bear and ben ready to go. and yes, that's how my child wears his hats. never, ever does he wear them with the bill forward. never.

i think he's telling them that the frisbee is that way.

chilling.

showing jer bear where to go.

i got one!

and more hiking.

and the cutest picture...

then it was home and naps for ben and me. nick went to my parent's to help the open the pool. fingers crossed it is ready for this weekend!

spending some time outdoors. trying to use and remember what i was taught in class!

and gigi came over to celebrate mother's day.
notice the crazy protesters on the tv. so glad we were there early!

grilled shrimp for dinner. the dip was delicious. dill avocado. so yum.

and harry potter and ice cream for dessert.

and an amazing sky during the crazy storms.

we did it.

here we are. at the butt crack of dawn. it's probably not that early now. maybe 7ish. us being dutiful citizens and voting. look at our red and blue scrubs. we're dorks. and no, they don't represent how we voted! and yes, people looked at us like we were crazy when i made nick take this picture!
waited a while. was way late to work. oh well.
can't wait to see how it turns out. either way. should be quite an interesting evening.
oh and my county/polling place was lame. no stickers or notes.
this is what i ended up with...
on the left you'll see the 'note' from my polling place. doubt i'll need it for work but hey, why not? the buttons were made at work. one of our receptionists heard i was angry that i didn't get a sticker so she wanted to make me one. the top right is her original verson. we then decided to look for a 'real' one online and then printed it on the color printer. we were even smart enough to laminate them. and by laminate them, i mean cover them in packing tape for protection. ;o)

happy election day!
oh and hopefully a non political post tomorrow....

11.03.2008

must get up...

early tomorrow!!!
i start work at 730am. have to figure out if the lines for voting are going to be ridiculous. planning on getting there for 630ish and crossing my fingers that all goes quickly. thinking my breakfast will be mcdonalds. oh so healthy!
am all researched and ready. if you still need help on finding out who to vote for check out this site...
and who knew?! wishing our krispy kreme hadn't closed.

11.01.2008

traffic was a nightmare.

so senator obama was in my area last night. pretty cool. pretty darn crowded. you can read about it here.
i got off of work around 3 and had to drive past the park. took me 15 minutes. normally would be a breeze. less than a minute. stoplights were shut down. lanes were blocked off. news trucks everywhere.
i cannot imagine cramming 40000 people to that park. and the parking. oy. the article comments on all of that.
cool nonetheless.
also cool to think that our county could be the swing factor in going red or blue. might be the first time since indiana votes democrat since lyndon johnson.
planning on leaving super early to vote tuesday. have already heard about ridiculous lines to vote early... hoping the day of goes a bit more quickly!

5.06.2008

gonna be a big one...

lots going on.
lesse...
saw jersey boys this weekend. awesome, awesome, awesome. think we are gonna get nick's dad tickets for father's day and go with him. maybe this time we can have non nosebleed seats. see we bought them from a friend. said friend neglected to tell us these tickets were 'limited viewing' so nick had a freaking pole in front of him. sigh. still good tho.
hit up the container store after the show. shopping spree bonanza. lots of organizing done after that visit. love a good spring cleaning.
haven't been in a scrappy mood. think it's the overwhelming pile 'o stuff in the room. must downsize or something.
made some kick ass enchiladas for cinco de mayo yesterday. muy bueno. two thumbs up for both nick and myself. super easy recipe too. if you are interested, you can get the recipe here.
voted today. told nick i wanted to be a democan or a republicrat. he said, 'you mean moderate.' eh, what does he know?! ha. but yes, i would like a combination of all the nominees/candidates please. got up early to go. were surprised to see so many peeps there. not that it was crowded, just not what i expected only 30 minutes after the polls opened.
got some nice nurse's day presents. always makes me smile to be remembered/acknowledged. ya know?
have been hella lazy. exercised once in the past two or so weeks. eek. must start again. and then when i exercise i can catch up on all my tivo'd goodness!
excited for friday. have the day off... yay! hope it stays that way. thinking i might be able to trick the dog into sleeping after nick leaves and i can stay upstairs and scrap. ;o)
think that was most of my randomness for the day. have to get ready for a maybe mini mariokart-athon. friends are stopping by and if we can contain their little one, it might be on. and did you know we can play online? brandy, if you and jason are online, let me know! and that goes for the rest of you wii-ers! ;o)

5.01.2008

dude.

there's a croc outlet by me now. well, not really near me. a bit aways, but still! went last night. and the bonus was that nurses get a 10% discount. how fun! so i picked up two mother's day gifts. none for me... shocking, i know.
also returned one of the coach purses i bought on black friday. i just wasn't using it. so yay returns.
and if you need some info on politics. check out this site. nick and i have been studying up for tuesday.
oh and i'm feeling green. have discussed starting a recycling program at work. it's just sad all of the waste here... go me. ;o)

who knew...

that our vote, so late in the game, could or would still mater.
i believe brandy posted about this topic a few months ago and my comment was that our primary so late in the game was worthless. who knew?!
not a fan of politics. causes too much turmoil amongst friends and family. am very guarded about who i will talk 'shop' with.... we don't consider ourselves republicans or democrats. will vote for who we agree with most at the time. amazing to think that this year our democratic nomination will either be a woman or african american. cool.
the fact that my vote, could affect who gets that nomination.... pretty freaking neat.
