wip 8.3.13

friday:

took miss melia to target.

had to get a goodie package for our nephew, noah. he broke his arm the night before.

that evening nick's dad and michelle and bri came over. bri finally got to meet miss a!

silly mister ben.

they all watched a movie. i fell asleep. dude, i fell asleep during movies before we had kids. like i'm not gonna take the opportunity to catch some z's when the opportunity presents itself!

saturday:

nick played disc golf with his dad. i had a lazy morning with the kids. 

nick got home and got called out to work. once he was home, we headed to the cooper's for their end of summer party.

when we got there, nick got another phone call and had to go back out to work. felt bad for him. and ben. ben wanted to swim and i couldn't get in with him due to the csection incision. ben finally agreed to wear his vest and happily splashed around with his friends til nick arrived.

sunday:

went for my pedicure that i had to cancel because amelia surprised us early. the lady was new. i was not impressed. sad i spent so much and didn't think it was worth it. oh well. live and learn. i won't be going back...

had date night with nick. his cousin volunteered to babysit when i texted her asking for mini golf places out their way. 

we dropped the kids off and headed out. 

megan and ben walked to the park and aunt michelle hung out with melia.

 

after golf, we went to cooper's hawk. so much better than the one by us!

ended up being a late night. hadn't really anticipated stopping for dinner. but again, they babysitters offered, so we went. felt good to be out of the house doing real people things!

ten on tuesday 9.10.13

- thinking i was overly ambitious to start training for a 5k the week i returned to work after maternity leave!

- ben is on an einy meiny kick. so cute. yet frustrating when i need him to decide in a hurry.

- ben also has been saying hip hooray. he tends to forget the second hip!

- was randomly telling a story at work and one of my coworkers was like, 'it is nice to have you back.' glad to know i liven up the work day! shortly after, one of the doctors said the same thing!

- going on a field trip with ben tomorrow. holy crumbs it's gonna be hot...

- miss melia is still cute as ever. even cute when she wants to be fed every four hours at night... i think it's easier this time because you know there is a light at the end of the tunnel. and that i know she's my last babe so i best enjoy every moment.

- think that nick and i are going to be spending monday evenings doing some sort of physical activity: bike rides or indoor volleyball. ;)

- my brother detailed my car this weekend. it looks so super shiny and awesome!

- ben takes milk {in a sippy} and cereal or a cereal bar to school in the morning. today nick accidently gave ben the milk from yesterday... ben took two sips and said, 'daddy, this tastes funny.' ew! and thank goodness he didn't have an upset stomach at school.

- hoping to find my back to work groove within the next few weeks. think it totally helped that i started getting up at an earlier time last week and cut out the daytime naps!

only 238!

not too bad considering i missed eight weeks of work! i really thought it would be way more. but then i heard there were computer and nipsco (energy company) issues. so they were without computers for maybe 3-5 days.

happy to be back but sad to be leaving my lady bug. ;)

amelia marie: two weeks.

second child syndrome in full effect. poor girl. blog is way late, she didn't get monthly pregnancy posts, and now, her pictures were all taken with my iphone! eek. not the rebel or even a point and shoot. completely unedited. bad momma. oh well, gotta make some concessions.

mr. ben's two week post is here. 
 

at two weeks:

- made two trips to the doctor. she was a nicu baby so they wanted to follow up with breathing and weight gain since she was strictly breast feeding. at one week she was 8 pounds 5 ounces. her weight when we left the hospital. and at two weeks she was 8 pounds 9 ounces. back up to birth weight. 

- was switched to being bottle fed. home girl played and took forever to nurse. i can pump and feed her in the time it took to nurse. and then i got extra milk to freeze since i was pumping.

- taking about 3-4 ounces every 3-4 hours. twenty four hours a day.

- had a real bath!

- is a fan of swaddling.

- has the prettiest blue eyes. {fingers crossed i'm the odd man out with brown eyes in this family.}

- is pretty strong. her neck strength is surprising. {maybe it's because i want her to grow slowly knowing she's the last baby!}

- is very noisy. makes noises the entire time she is asleep.

- can no longer wear newborn diapers. lady bug was in size one when we left the hospital. i guess she has her momma's thighs.

- can fit into some newborn clothing but mostly wears 0-3 mos.

wip 7.27.13

friday:

took our first family outing to target. it required two carts.

and was, apparently, very exhausting. 

we even had family bedtime. yup, all four of us up in ben's bedroom reading bedtime stories. 

saturday:

nick worked. surprise, surprise. i hung out with the kidlets.

then my mom came over and three of us went to tom and jen's baby shower. ben had some one on one grandma time. that's right. we took a baby to a baby shower. is that like wearing white to a wedding? and for the record, i did make sure it was okay with jen weeks prior. ;)

hello extra dirty martini. how i've missed you. 

they had a candy bar. 

 with their pressies.

was nice to visit with the friends. got to see yogert who was in from st. louis and tom's sister who i only run into at old navy! :) stayed way longer than anticipated but was totally worth it.

sunday:

met my parents and grandma for breakfast. was the first time that great grandma has seen miss amelia. she got ben a big brother present. star wars guys, which he loved. 

and the cutest outfits for amelia. 

after breakfast, we stopped at kohls. i had a few returns and some kohl's kash. nick and ben ran in and i fed melie in the car. had to improvise a sun shade.

we went to the st. john fair in the evening. was a bit chilly but not too terrible. ben kept asking to go every time he and nick came home from school/work.

first stop, the round and round, of course!

he wanted to ride everything! even the big kid rides. really wish i didn't have an incision and that nick could tolerate spinning rides. next year buddy. ;)

there was a dropped lemonade incident. thankfully, the guy was super nice and gave me a new one. pretty sure this was right after the event.

boys went and played games while i fed baby. ben won tons of prizes. nick said he was super lucky.

as i sat there and fed baby, i watched a boatload of kids walking by with bunnies. i swear, they're the new goldfish! i overhead one kid on the phone with his mom. after hanging up, he reluctantly gave his bunny away to a friend and said my mom told me i couldn't come in the house if i had a bunny! i like that mom!
